Obituary for Cyril Arthur Restall

On July 24, 2022, Cyril Restall passed away unexpectedly in Peterborough. This was his dream place, which he enjoyed to the fullest – boating and fishing, his favourite past times along with spending warm and comforting hours with friends at the trailer.

Cy is survived by his loving wife Joan who was also his best friend and fishing buddy, his daughters Michelle (Matt Gibson) and new baby grandson Zeth Gibson, his son Shane (Cynthia Stone) and Shane’s daughter Janelle, daughter Nicole Restall Hines and her children Charles, China and Cody and Cy’s sister Pauline Taylor of London and her daughter Judy.

He is predeceased by his parents Harriet and Albert V. Restall, brothers Aubrey “Chip” Restall (Connie) and John Restall (Vicki) and brothers-in-law Bill Curtis and Steven Curtis (who died four days after Cy).

Cy came to Canada from Birmingham, England when he was five years old, becoming a Canadian citizen on January 11, 2000. He started work at Nickson Construction as a hoisting engineer mobile crane operator and finished work at Canadian Fabricated when it closed. Over those years Cy enjoyed playing fast-ball, slow pitch and hockey.

He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends, including the “family” of friends he knew at the trailer park. Stoney Lake will not be the same without him and his passion for fishing and boating. A lot of laughs and joy in each other’s company was had, memories enough to last a lifetime, camping and passing time with his soul-mate Joan.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held in future.

Donations in Cy’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca), directly, or through Rutherford Cremation & Funeral Services, 804 Ontario Street, Stratford. 519-271-5062.
