Obituary for Hazel Schaefer

Hazel (Clyne) Schaefer, of Stratford, passed away suddenly from complications of recent heart surgery at University Hospital on Friday November 28, 2014, in her 85th year. Hazel was the daughter of the late Fred Clyne and the former Annie Petrie. She was born in Downie Township on June 14, 1930. Hazel married Keith Schaefer of Stratford in May 1948 and was predeceased by him in July 1990. They lived in California for several years. Hazel was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Stratford. Hazel is survived by her two daughters Janice Contreas and Joan (Ray) Forster. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren Deanna and Sean Carney, Jordan Forster, Carter Thompson and Desta Patterson. She was the beloved great-grandmother of Braedyn and Ryland Carney. Hazel is survived by Bob Schlueter, a special friend who won her heart like a son. Beloved sister of Jean Johnson, Dorlleen (Dolly) Beacham, Marie Fuhr and brother and sisters-in-law Wallace and Lois Schaefer, Joyce Lange and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband Hazel is also predeceased by her brothers Leo (Ella) Clyne and John Clyne and father-in-law Edgar and wife Esther Schaefer as well as brothers-in-law Ray Johnson, Ken Fuhr and Ellard Lange. In keeping with Hazel’s request, there will be no funeral home service. Friends and relatives are invited to a graveside service at Avondale Cemetery, Stratford on Tuesday December 2nd at 11 a.m. Fr.
