Obituary for Marilyn Ruth Emm (Douglas)

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marilyn Ruth Emm on February 8, 2023. Marilyn lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Her quirky personality, infectious smile, and generous spirit will be deeply missed.

Born August 10, 1935, Marilyn lived a life filled with laughter, love, and joy. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Donald Emm, and a loving mother to her two surviving children, Alan Emm (Betty) and Susan Lotz (Wayne). Marilyn was predeceased by two daughters, Wendy Powers and Debra Emm. She will be missed by four adoring granddaughters, Sherri Inglis (Rob), Michelle Garbe (James), Krista Carleton (Erik) and Kelly French (Drew). She also leaves behind ten adoring great-grandchildren: Hannah, Paige, Matthew, Camryn, Benson, Lia, Livia, Evan, Brooke and Clay.

Marilyn was the eldest child of the late James and Edith Douglas. She is survived by brother John Douglas (Arlene) and sister Marie Reek (Bill/deceased). Marilyn was also predeceased by siblings Dorothy Blythe (Peter), Diane Douglas and Jimmy Douglas.

Marilyn was a long-time employee of the Beacon Herald. After her retirement she enjoyed knitting, numerous arts and crafts projects, but most of all following the exploits of each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marilyn always lived on her own terms, and she left on her own terms. Her last words were “I have so many good memories.” Our response is; “Rest in peace dear Marilyn, bye for now.”

We shall cherish your memory forever!

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
