Obituary for Norman James MacKay

Norman James MacKay, 70, died Wednesday September 30th at Stratford General Hospital after a valiant battle with cancer. He fought to the end with courage and dignity.

Norman was born July 1st, 1951, in Kincardine, ON, to parents, Keith and Doris MacKay. He graduated from Walkerton District High School. After travelling to the west and working for three years, he settled in Stratford.
Norman was an incredibly hard worker and reliable. He worked for Cooper Standard and Crane, and after taking early retirement he supervised two apartments for the city of Stratford. A dedicated member of the Bethel Pentecostal Church, in Stratford, he picked up members and friends to attend services and social functions. Norm loved his cat, westerns, car shows, was an avid reader and enjoyed pot-lucks with his group of friends in Stratford, but he always enjoyed “coming home” to family in Kincardine.

Norman is survived by Catherine (Donald) Farrell, Carol (Nathaniel) Swaan, Marion Crick, Janet (Rod) Seabrook, Brian (Gail) MacKay and David (Joyce) MacKay. Many nieces and nephews will miss his infectious smile and good humour.

Predeceased by father Keith MacKay, mother Doris (Stanley) MacKay and brother-in-law Roy Crick.

Cremation has taken place. The family will gather for a private graveside service at a later date. Gratitude to the Stratford General Hospital and London Health Sciences Centre (Cancer Dept.), and Pastor Charles Swartwood, for his many visits to Norman.

Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of one's choice through the James A. Rutherford Funeral Home (Rutherford Cremation & Funeral Services). 804 Ontario Street, Stratford. 519-271-5062
